Bitcoin Miners for Finland

ASIC miners for operators and home miners in Finland, on 230/400 V 50 Hz supply, with notes on long-winter air cooling, heat reuse, import VAT and the tax rules that affect mining.

Voltage and electrical supply in Finland

Finland's nominal low-voltage supply is 230/400 V at 50 Hz, and household sockets are types C and F (Schuko). A Schuko socket is rated at 16 A, while a large air-cooled miner drawing 3–3.6 kW takes roughly 13–16 A at 230 V, continuously. Tukes, the Finnish safety and chemicals agency, has warned that ordinary earthed 16 A Schuko sockets are not designed to withstand continuous, repeated high loads such as overnight electric-car charging. A miner of that size therefore needs its own dedicated circuit, with a fixed connection or an industrial IEC 60309 connector: blue fittings are the 200–250 V type and come in 16 A and 32 A ratings.

Air-cooled miners with a 200–240 V or 220–277 V input connect line-to-neutral at 230 V. Hydro-cooled models specified for 380–415 V three-phase match a 400 V three-phase supply directly; red IEC 60309 fittings are the 380–480 V type.

Before adding several miners, confirm the capacity of your connection with your distribution network operator, and have a licensed electrician design and install the circuits.

Cooling for the Finnish climate

The Finnish Meteorological Institute describes winter, defined as a daily mean below 0 °C, as Finland's longest season: about 100 days in the southwest and 200 days in Lapland. Winter minimums reach −45 °C to −50 °C in Lapland and eastern Finland, and the national record is −51.5 °C. Summer peaks inland are 32 °C to 35 °C, with 37.2 °C the highest recorded.

Outside air is far below any miner's maximum intake temperature for most of the year, so direct air cooling works well. The winter problem is the reverse: intake air can be colder than the minimum operating temperature manufacturers publish, so sites recirculate part of the exhaust to temper it and keep snow and frost out of the airflow.

Heat reuse is documented in Finland: in the Satakunta region, a 2 MW data centre run by MARA, a digital asset company, feeds its waste heat into a district heating network serving about 11,000 residents.

Bitcoin mining in Finland

Cambridge's April 2025 Digital Mining Industry Report, a survey of 49 mining firms weighted by their power use, put Finland at 0.12% of reported mining activity as of 30 June 2024; Cambridge cautions that its country percentages need careful interpretation.

One documented Finnish project links mining with district heating. The same report describes a MARA pilot in the Satakunta region where a 2 MW data centre is connected to the local district heating network serving about 11,000 residents, and notes that the region offers an existing heating network and heating demand due to its climate.

Rules for mining in Finland

The Finnish Tax Administration treats mining as a taxable activity: income from proof-of-work mining is taxed as earned income, and that related expenses, such as increased electricity costs and all or part of the cost of mining equipment, can be deducted.

Electricity tax is the rule most specific to large sites. From the start of 2022, data centres with at least 0.5 MW of server capacity that met statutory energy-reuse or efficiency criteria paid the lower class II electricity tax. Electricity used in data centres moved to the higher class I on 1 July 2026, ending that lower rate for data centres.

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Shipping to Finland

Standard shipping to Finland is free on every order. If you need it faster, choose express shipping at checkout and we quote it before payment is requested.

Importing into Finland

Finland is part of the EU customs union, so goods from outside the EU are cleared through Finnish Customs (Tulli) on an import declaration. Customs duty and VAT are the taxes normally due at import.

The general VAT rate is 25.5 percent and applies to most goods. An importer on the Finnish VAT register reports import VAT on its VAT return to the Finnish Tax Administration (Vero), giving its Business ID on the customs declaration. A private individual, or anyone not on the VAT register, pays import VAT to Finnish Customs at clearance.

A business established in the EU needs an EORI number, issued by the customs authority of the EU country where it is established.

Customs duty depends on the goods' tariff classification and their origin, and is set at clearance.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
