About GekkoScience

GekkoScience is based in Missouri, USA, and has been in business since 2012. It describes itself as both an electronics hardware manufacturer and an engineering design consultant, says it is run by the developer known as Sidehack, and marks its miners as made in America. It exhibited at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville.

GekkoScience product lines

• Compac USB stick miners: these plug into a powered USB hub. The Compac F runs at 250 GH/s by default and up to 400 GH/s, and needs active cooling. The Compac A2 runs at 600 GH/s by default, with over 1 TH/s possible when overclocked, and is driven by a controller running cgminer. A Compac A1 has also been added.
• Terminus pod miners: the Terminus A2X is a standalone pod with a built-in Linux controller and Wi-Fi, rated 7 TH/s at about 110 W by default and up to 8 TH/s at 130 W, powered by an included 24 V brick.
• K-series heater miners: the Kbox is a standalone miner with a built-in 120/240 V AC power supply, rated up to 22 TH/s from 330 W at the wall, with 22, 16 and 10 TH/s preset modes, and designed for use as a room heater. The range also includes the KBuddy (15–18 TH/s, 300 W) and the KBeast (50+ TH/s, 800 W).
• Mein Coffee: offered in a 1 TH/s version.
