Air-Cooled Mining Farm Equipment

Equipment procurement and project supply for air-cooled sites: the miners and the electrical, racking, ventilation and network equipment around them, specified together.

How an air-cooled site is sized

Start from the power available, not the building. Every watt a miner draws becomes heat that the ventilation must remove, so miner count, airflow and electrical distribution are all derived from the same number.

  1. Miner load. Number of machines × rated power. Divide the site's available capacity by per-unit power, leaving headroom for cooling fans and distribution losses.
  2. Airflow. Each machine moves a fixed volume of air; the hall's exhaust capacity must exceed the sum, and intake must be filtered. In hot dry climates evaporative cooling lowers intake temperature.
  3. Distribution. Transformer secondary voltage is chosen to match the miners' input range, then switchgear and PDUs are sized per row.
  4. Layout. Racks are arranged so intakes face a cold aisle and exhausts face a sealed hot aisle or an exterior wall. Recirculation is the most common cause of underperformance.

What we supply and what you arrange

We supply the equipment as a procurement scope and coordinate its delivery. Electrical design, building works, installation and commissioning are carried out by your own engineers and licensed contractors to local code. Send your single-line diagram or simply your available capacity and voltage, and the quotation will list equipment matched to it.

Questions

How many air-cooled miners can a site support?

Divide the capacity available to IT load by the rated power of the chosen model. As an illustration, 1,000 kW of IT load supports about 285 machines rated at 3,500 W. Total site load is higher once ventilation fans and distribution losses are included, so the transformer is sized above the IT load.

Which voltage should the miners be supplied at?

Whatever falls inside the input range the manufacturer publishes for the chosen model, shown on each product page. Many air-cooled models accept 200–240 V; some extend to 277 V, which allows a line-to-neutral connection on 277/480 V systems without a step-down transformer.
