How immersion mining works

Immersion miners sit in a tank of non-conductive (dielectric) fluid. The fluid absorbs heat directly from every component, is pumped through a heat exchanger, and returns to the tank. Because nothing relies on air, there are no fans, dust never reaches the electronics, and noise falls to that of the pumps and dry coolers.

What an immersion deployment needs

  • Tanks sized for the machine count and form factor.
  • Dielectric fluid of a type the miner manufacturer permits.
  • Pumps and heat rejection: a dry cooler or cooling tower sized for the full heat load.
  • Immersion-specification machines. Models designed for immersion ship without fans and with immersion firmware. Converting an air-cooled miner means removing fans and changing firmware, and may affect the manufacturer's warranty: check the warranty terms for the specific model before immersing it.

Only models listed as immersion units, or recorded as immersion compatible, are shown on this page.
