What an immersion site consists of

Machines sit submerged in tanks of dielectric fluid. The fluid takes heat directly from every component, circulates through a heat exchanger, and the heat is rejected outdoors by a dry cooler. There are no fans in the machines, so dust and humidity never reach the electronics.

Procurement has four parts that must agree with each other:

  • Miners: models the manufacturer supplies for immersion or marks as immersion compatible. Immersing an air-cooled model means removing its fans and changing firmware, and can affect the manufacturer's warranty; check the terms for the specific model first.
  • Tanks sized for the count and form factor of those miners.
  • Fluid of a type the miner manufacturer permits, in the volume the tanks require, plus a reserve.
  • Heat rejection sized for the full electrical load at peak ambient temperature.

What we supply and what you arrange

We supply the miners and immersion equipment as a procurement scope. System design, installation, fluid filling and commissioning are carried out by your own engineers and contractors.

Questions

Can any miner be immersed?

No. Use models the manufacturer sells as immersion units or lists as immersion compatible. Converting an air-cooled miner requires removing fans and changing firmware and may void the manufacturer's warranty.

How much fluid does a site need?

It depends on the tank design and the number of tanks, not directly on the miners. The tank supplier's specification gives the fill volume per tank; add a reserve for top-up and maintenance.
