Bitcoin Miners for Kazakhstan

What a Kazakh buyer of Bitcoin mining hardware needs to plan for: the 230/400 V supply, cooling through hot summers and cold winters, customs under the Eurasian Economic Union, and licensed mining.

Voltage and electrical supply in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's mains supply is 230 V single-phase and 400 V three-phase at 50 Hz, according to the mains electricity table that draws on IEC data. Sockets are Type C and Type F. A Type F (Schuko) socket is rated 16 A, and a Type C Europlug only 2.5 A. A large air-cooled miner drawing 3–3.6 kW takes roughly 13–16 A at 230 V: close to the 16 A rating of a Type F socket and far above a Type C plug, so each machine needs a dedicated 16 A or 32 A circuit or an industrial socket on a properly sized distribution board.

Air-cooled miners with a 200–240 V input run from a single phase at 230 V. On a three-phase supply, each phase to neutral is 230 V, so units can be spread evenly across the three phases. Hydro-cooled miners that need 380–415 V three-phase connect line to line on the 400 V supply.

Large loads are a matter for the grid operator. The government's 2026 rules for strategic digital mining, for example, refer to mining data centres supplied from transformer substations of 35 kV and above. Confirm the available capacity with the local utility and have a licensed electrician design the installation.

Cooling for the Kazakh climate

Kazakhstan's climate is mostly continental, semi-arid and cold desert. Summer temperatures average more than 30 °C and winter temperatures around −9 °C.

In summer, intake air can approach the upper end of the intake range manufacturers publish for air-cooled miners, so sites need generous airflow and must keep hot exhaust from finding its way back to the intake. In winter the problem reverses: outside air can be colder than a miner's minimum operating temperature, so sites temper the intake by recirculating a share of warm exhaust and keep snow and moisture out of the airflow. In dry, windy areas, dust filtration needs planning; around the drying Aral Sea, wind lifts salt and residue into dust storms. No documented heat-reuse project in Kazakhstan was found.

Bitcoin mining in Kazakhstan

The Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance mining map put Kazakhstan's share of global hashrate at 13.22% on average from September 2021 to January 2022, behind the United States (37.84%) and China (21.11%). In its May 2022 write-up, Cambridge noted that after electricity shortages the government took a stricter stance on mining, and the share declined. Cambridge's country series ends in January 2022, and no later dated country estimate was found.

The grid is mostly fossil-fuelled: Ember reports that 15% of Kazakhstan's electricity came from low-carbon sources in 2025. The 2026 strategic mining rules link large new operations to long-term power contracts and to handing a share of output to the Astana Hub fund.

Rules for mining in Kazakhstan

Bitcoin mining is legal and licensed. The Law on Digital Assets of 6 February 2023 says digital mining is carried out under a licence, by a digital miner working through a digital mining pool. The law also provides for a mechanism that sets an electricity quota for digital miners.

On 18 July 2026 the government approved Rules for strategic digital mining (Resolution No. 638), aimed at large operators. An applicant needs an owned mining data centre of at least 150 MW, supplied from substations of 35 kV and above, with each machine delivering at least 150 TH/s. Approved companies may sign direct ten-year electricity purchase contracts at prices no higher than the regulated cap. In return they transfer 10% of the digital assets they mine, net of energy and supply costs, to the Astana Hub autonomous cluster fund.

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Importing into Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and has applied the union's customs code since 2010. Under the Customs Code, the customs bodies are the state revenue bodies, under the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance, and in 2024 Kazakhstan launched the Keden customs IT platform, replacing the older Astana-1 system. According to the U.S. Commercial Service, foreign entities must use a licensed customs broker, and a full declaration must be filed within thirty days of arrival.

Under the new Tax Code, most of which took effect on 1 January 2026, the standard VAT rate rose from 12% to 16%. For goods from outside the EAEU, the tax is paid to the state revenue (customs) bodies during customs clearance. Import duties depend on the goods' classification and origin. No official classification ruling for mining machines was found.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
