Bitcoin Miners for Belgium

What a buyer in Belgium needs to know before importing an ASIC miner: whether the street has a 400 V or 3×230 V network, cooling in a wet maritime climate, customs and import VAT, and crypto rules.

Voltage and electrical supply in Belgium

Belgium's supply is 230/400 V at 50 Hz, but in some areas the network is a 3×230 V three-phase system with no neutral conductor, where single-phase loads are connected across two phases. Grid operator Fluvius sets its standard connection by network: three-phase 25 A (17.3 kW) where the street has a 400 V network, and three-phase 40 A (15.9 kW) where it has a 230 V network.

Sockets are types C and E. The type E socket is rated 16 A and the flat type C Europlug only 2.5 A. A large air-cooled miner drawing 3–3.6 kW at 230 V takes roughly 13–16 A continuously, close to the full rating of a type E socket, so it needs a dedicated circuit, preferably with an IEC 60309 industrial connector (blue for 200–250 V; 16 A and 32 A are common ratings).

Air-cooled miners with a 200–240 V input work on both networks: phase to neutral on a 400 V network, phase to phase on a 3×230 V network. Hydro-cooled miners specified for 380–415 V three-phase need a 400 V network: a 3×230 V supply offers only 230 V between phases, below that range. Confirm which network supplies the site with the grid operator and a qualified electrician.

Cooling for the Belgian climate

Belgium has a maritime temperate climate (Köppen Cfb) with significant rain in every season; average temperatures are about 3 °C in January and 18 °C in July, and relative humidity at Uccle averages 77 percent over the year. For most of the year outside air is far below any miner's maximum intake temperature, so air cooling works well, but filtration and moisture control matter in this wet climate.

Summers are getting hotter. The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) counts an average of 30 summer days (25 °C or more) a year at Uccle over the last 30 years, against 20 in 1961–1990, and 13 fewer frost days. In the June 2026 heatwave the highest temperature recorded in the country was 39.4 °C at Ophoven (Kinrooi) on 26 June. Air-cooled sites should be designed for such peaks, with derating, evaporative assistance or hydro cooling.

Bitcoin mining in Belgium

Belgium does not appear as a mining location in the most recent survey evidence. The Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) Digital Mining Industry Report of April 2025, based on survey data as of 30 June 2024 from firms representing about 48% of network hashrate, did not list Belgium among the countries where respondents were headquartered or the 23 countries where they reported mining operations. It found European activity concentrated in the Nordic countries, led by Norway, while cautioning that its sample may overstate activity in some regions, such as the United States.

Rules for mining in Belgium

The EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 of 31 May 2023, which applies from 30 December 2024, sets requirements for offering and trading crypto-assets and for crypto-asset service providers. Its recital 93 states that the crypto-asset transfer service it regulates should not include the miners that confirm transactions.

In Belgium the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) authorises and supervises crypto-asset service providers under MiCA. Providers that operated under national law before 30 December 2024 could continue until 1 July 2026 or until they were granted or refused authorisation.

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Importing into Belgium

Customs formalities for goods from outside the EU are handled by Belgian Customs. Under the EU VAT Directive, VAT becomes chargeable when goods are imported, on the customs value plus duties and transport costs to the first destination, at the same rate as domestic supplies; the standard rate in Belgium is 21 percent. Belgium designates who is liable to pay it.

A business established in the EU needs an EORI number for customs operations; it is issued by the customs authority of the EU country where the business is established, so a Belgian business applies to Belgian Customs.

The EU customs tariff is common to all member states, but the duty rate depends on the type of goods (their tariff classification) and their origin.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
