About Bitaxe

Bitaxe is an open-source project rather than a single manufacturer: anyone can inspect, modify or build the hardware. It began in the skot/bitaxe GitHub repository, created in May 2022, and the designs now sit in the bitaxeorg GitHub organisation under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 open hardware licence. The ESP-Miner firmware, licensed GPL-3.0, is maintained by the Open Source Miners United (OSMU) community. A Bitaxe mines over Wi-Fi without an external computer and can point at any Stratum pool, configured through the AxeOS dashboard.

Bitaxe product lines

The main generations differ by the mining ASIC they use, each taken from an Antminer model:

  • Max: BM1397, from the Antminer S17
  • Ultra: BM1366, from the Antminer S19 XP
  • Supra: BM1368, from the Antminer S21 (the fourth major revision)
  • Gamma: BM1370, from the Antminer S21 Pro (the fifth major revision); the project estimates about 1.2 TH/s per board

Multi-chip boards include the Gamma Turbo (GT, version 801) with two BM1370 chips, the Gamma Hex with six BM1370 chips and the Hex with six BM1366 chips. The organisation also hosts boards built on Auradine, Intel and Canaan chips (Aura, Bonanza, Ava).

Buying Bitaxe miners

Each Bitaxe listing shows the specifications recorded for that model. Where Bitaxe lists a model in several hashrate versions, each version has its own page because power draw and price differ.

Retail quantities can be ordered through checkout when a price and availability status are published. For volume, request a wholesale quote with the models and quantities you need; Bitaxe orders can be combined with other manufacturers in one quotation.
