What defines a hydro deployment

A hydro miner is cooled by liquid flowing through cold plates. The miner manufacturer specifies, per machine, the coolant flow rate, the maximum inlet temperature, the maximum pressure, the permitted coolant and the connector. Those five values, shown on each hydro product page where the manufacturer publishes them, drive the whole cooling design.

  • Loop flow is the per-machine flow multiplied by the number of machines on the loop, which sizes the pumps and pipework.
  • Heat load equals the electrical load of the miners. The dry cooler must reject all of it at the site's highest outdoor temperature while still returning coolant below the miner's inlet limit. In very hot climates this is the constraint that decides the design.
  • Coolant quality is a warranty matter. Coolant outside the manufacturer's specification causes corrosion and blockage in the cold plates.
  • Electrical supply for most hydro models is three-phase at 380–415 V. Sites on 480 V or 600 V service need transformers with a matching secondary.

Racks or containers

Hydro miners are deployed either in racks inside a building, connected to a plant room, or in hydro containers that integrate racks, manifolds, pumps and power distribution and connect to an external dry cooler. Containers shorten site works; racks suit an existing building. See mining containers.

What we supply and what you arrange

We supply miners and cooling equipment as a matched procurement scope. Hydraulic and electrical design, installation, filling and commissioning are carried out by your own engineers and contractors.

Questions

Can hydro miners run on ordinary water?

Only if the manufacturer permits it for that model. Manufacturers specify the coolant type, commonly deionised water or an antifreeze mix, and its quality. The permitted coolant is listed on the product page where the manufacturer publishes it.

Why does peak ambient temperature matter so much?

A dry cooler can only cool the liquid to somewhat above the outdoor air temperature. If the hottest day is close to the miner's maximum inlet temperature, a larger cooler, adiabatic assistance or a cooling tower is needed. Size for the hottest design day, not the average.
