Bitcoin Miners at 10–12 J/TH

SHA-256 miners with an efficiency of 10–12 J/TH. Efficiency is joules of energy per terahash: lower means less electricity for the same hashrate.

Why efficiency decides running cost

Electricity cost per day for any miner is power (kW) × 24 × price per kWh, and power is simply hashrate × J/TH. So for a fixed amount of hashrate, electricity cost scales directly with J/TH. Moving from 20 J/TH to 15 J/TH cuts the electricity bill for the same hashrate by 25%.

Efficiency against purchase price

The most efficient machines are the newest and cost the most per terahash. Whether that premium is worth paying depends on your power price: the higher it is, the more an efficient machine saves each day, and the longer a less efficient machine risks running below break-even when difficulty rises. Use the electricity cost table to compare models at your own rate.

Where no J/TH figure is stated for a model, the value shown is derived from rated power divided by rated hashrate and is labelled as derived.
