Bitcoin Miners for Indonesia

What an Indonesian buyer should check before importing an ASIC miner: the 230/400 V supply and socket ratings, cooling in year-round heat and humidity, customs registration and import VAT, and how miners are taxed.

Voltage and electrical supply in Indonesia

Indonesia's low-voltage supply is 230/400 V at 50 Hz: 230 V between a line and neutral, 400 V between lines on a three-phase connection.

Sockets take Type C and Type F plugs, under the national standard SNI 04-3892.1.1-2003. A Type F (Schuko) socket is rated 16 A; the two-pin Type C Europlug is rated only 2.5 A and has no earth. A large air-cooled miner drawing 3–3.6 kW takes roughly 13–16 A at 230 V, without a break, which puts a 16 A socket at its limit. Give each machine its own circuit sized for continuous load, with an industrial socket or a hard-wired connection, and never run a miner through a Type C plug or adapter.

Air-cooled miners with a 200–240 V input run line-to-neutral at 230 V; with several machines, spread them evenly across the three phases. Hydro-cooled models specified for 380–415 V three-phase connect directly to a 400 V three-phase supply. Check the input range on each product page. Confirm the connected capacity and phase with the utility before ordering, and have a licensed electrician do the installation.

Cooling for the Indonesian climate

Indonesia's climate is almost entirely tropical, mostly tropical rainforest, with tropical monsoon and savanna climates in drier areas and cooler highland climates above about 1,500 m. Temperatures change little through the year: coastal plains average 28 °C, inland and mountain areas 26 °C and the higher mountain regions 23 °C. Relative humidity ranges between 70 and 90%.

For air-cooled miners this means warm intake air all year and no cold-weather minimum to design for. Humidity and rain are the main issues: keep rain out of intakes, especially in the monsoon months, avoid condensation on cold surfaces and protect hashboards against corrosion. Highland sites run cooler, since temperature falls about 1 °C for every 90 m of elevation. Where humid intake air is a concern, hydro or immersion cooling is worth considering.

Bitcoin mining in Indonesia

Hashrate Index's Global Hashrate Heatmap update for Q4 2026, published on 5 October 2026, ranks Indonesia eighth in the world with about 2.1% of global hashrate (around 20 EH/s), up 18% year on year. Hashrate Index links the growth to hydropower development across Southeast Asia.

An earlier and much lower figure comes from Cambridge's Digital Mining Industry Report of April 2025. Weighting responses from 49 mining firms by their power use, it attributed 0.07% of reported activity to Indonesia as of 30 June 2024. Cambridge notes that its sample may underrepresent parts of the Asia-Pacific.

Rules for mining in Indonesia

Indonesia taxes crypto mining directly. Finance Ministry Regulation 50/2025, signed on 25 July 2025 and in force from 1 August 2025, defines a crypto-asset miner as a person or entity that verifies crypto-asset transactions in return for crypto rewards, alone or in a mining pool.

The miner collects, pays and reports VAT on this verification service as a VAT-registered business. The VAT is a set amount: 20% of 11/12 of the VAT rate, applied to the rupiah value of the crypto received, block rewards included. At the 12% rate that is 2.2% of the value.

From tax year 2026, a miner's income from the crypto system (block rewards, transaction fees and other income) is taxed at the general income-tax rates and reported in the annual tax return. The regulation also records that supervision of crypto assets has passed to the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Importing into Indonesia

Imports are cleared by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Direktorat Jenderal Bea dan Cukai, DJBC). DJBC also collects the taxes due on import (PDRI), such as VAT, luxury-goods sales tax where it applies, and income tax. The importer files an import declaration (PIB) and calculates the duty and import taxes due.

Indonesia's VAT rate is 12%, in force from 1 January 2025 under the Harmonised Tax Law. For goods that are not luxury goods, Finance Ministry Regulation 131/2024 applies the 12% to a base of 11/12 of the import value, which works out at 11% of that value.

An importer counts as registered with customs once it holds a business identification number (NIB) from the OSS system, which serves as its importer identification number (API) and customs access. Import duty depends on the machine's tariff classification and origin.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
