Bitcoin Miners for Colombia

Choosing and importing Bitcoin mining hardware for Colombia: which miners suit the 60 Hz supply of 120/208 V, 120/240 V or 277/480 V, what altitude means for cooling, and how imports are registered and taxed.

Voltage and electrical supply in Colombia

Colombia runs at 60 Hz. Low-voltage supplies include 120/208 V three-phase, 120/240 V split-phase and 277/480 V three-phase. Sockets take Type A and B plugs, rated at most 15 A at 125 V; NEMA 5-20 outlets (up to 20 A at 120 V) appear on commercial equipment, and NEMA 10-50 outlets (up to 50 A) are sometimes used for 208 V and 240 V industrial equipment.

A large air-cooled miner draws 3–3.6 kW and cannot run from a 120 V socket: its 200–240 V or 220–277 V power supply needs 208 V between two phases of a 120/208 V service, 240 V across a split-phase service, or 277 V line to neutral of a 277/480 V service, each on a dedicated circuit rated for about 12.5–17.5 A per machine. Check the input range: 208 V suits 200–240 V models but falls below the 220 V minimum of 220–277 V models. Hydro-cooled miners for 380–415 V three-phase match neither 208 V nor 480 V and need a transformer.

Confirm the supply with the network operator, and have a licensed electrician design the installation.

Cooling for the Colombian climate

Colombia's climate is tropical and nearly isothermal because the country lies near the Equator, so temperature depends mostly on altitude rather than season. Below 1,000 m the warm zone stays above 24 °C and can exceed 37.8 °C in the Magdalena river valley. Between 1,000 and 2,000 m, around Medellín, temperatures run 17–22 °C; between 2,000 and 3,000 m, around Bogotá, the average is 10–17 °C, with about 2,000 mm of rain a year.

For air cooling, altitude is the main design choice. Highland sites offer cool intake air all year, though rainfall makes humidity and condensation a concern. Lowland sites face heat and humidity together; intake air there needs cooling, or hydro cooling with dry coolers is the better fit.

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Shipping to Colombia

Standard shipping to Colombia is free on every order. If you need it faster, choose express shipping at checkout and we quote it before payment is requested.

Importing into Colombia

Customs and taxes are administered by the Dirección de Impuestos y Aduanas Nacionales (DIAN). Importers must register in the Registro Único Tributario (RUT) before operating as importers; DIAN uses the RUT number to identify taxpayers in tax, customs and exchange-control matters.

Value added tax (IVA) applies to imports of goods that are not expressly excluded, at the general rate of 19% set by the Tax Statute (Estatuto Tributario, articles 420 and 468). Import duties depend on the tariff classification and origin of the goods, so confirm both before shipping.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
