Bitcoin Miners for Argentina

Choosing and importing Bitcoin mining hardware for Argentina: which miners suit the 220/380 V, 50 Hz supply, what the country's wide range of climates means for cooling, and how imports are taxed.

Voltage and electrical supply in Argentina

Argentina's supply is 220/380 V at 50 Hz: 220 V between line and neutral, 380 V between lines. Sockets follow IRAM 2073 (Type I, with live and neutral reversed compared with the Chinese and Australian versions) and are rated at most 10–20 A; Europlug-type (Type C) sockets also exist.

A large air-cooled miner draws 3–3.6 kW, about 13.5–16.5 A at 220 V. That is more than a 10 A socket can carry, so each machine needs a dedicated circuit with an industrial socket or a hard-wired connection rated for the load. Air-cooled miners with 200–240 V or 220–277 V power supplies run directly on the 220 V single-phase supply, and a three-phase service can feed many of them spread evenly across the three phases. Hydro-cooled miners specified for 380–415 V three-phase match the 380 V line-to-line supply, at the bottom of their range, so check each model's tolerance.

Confirm the supply and the capacity of the connection with the distributor, and have a licensed electrician design the installation.

Cooling for the Argentine climate

Argentina's climate varies widely with latitude and altitude: warm and tropical in the north, mild in the centre and cold in the south, where frost and snow are frequent. The northern Chaco region records the country's highest temperatures, and summers in the north are hot, humid and rainy. Patagonia, which includes Neuquén, is arid to semi-arid, with cold winters and strong westerly winds all year; it and the high Puna record temperatures below −20 °C.

For air cooling this means opposite problems by region. In the Chaco and the north, summer intake air can exceed a miner's maximum intake temperature and humidity is high, so intake air needs cooling and filtering, or hydro cooling is the better fit. In Patagonia, winter air can fall below manufacturers' minimum operating temperatures, so sites recirculate warm exhaust to temper the intake, keep snow out of the airflow and shelter intakes from the strong year-round winds.

Bitcoin mining in Argentina

In the Cambridge Digital Mining Industry Report (April 2025), Argentina accounted for 0.72% of the Bitcoin mining activity reported by surveyed miners as of 30 June 2024, weighted by their power use (49 respondents).

Hashrate Index (April 2026) put Argentina at about 1 EH/s in Q2 2026, down 42% on a year earlier, and named Bitfarms (now Keel Infrastructure) closing its 40 MW site as the most direct cause. The same report notes that YPF runs a pilot mining Bitcoin with associated gas from the Vaca Muerta shale formation that would otherwise be flared, that the national grid (SADI) has about 43,350 MW of installed capacity, including Patagonian wind and large hydroelectric plants, and that Decrees 450, 451 and 452 of 2025 open the way to bilateral power contracts between generators and large industrial consumers.

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Shipping to Argentina

Importing into Argentina

Imports are controlled by the Agencia de Recaudación y Control Aduanero (ARCA), the agency in charge of tax collection and foreign-trade control. Since Decree 70/2023 (published 21 December 2023), the Customs Code allows any person or company to request customs clearance and trade internationally without enrolling in a register.

Value added tax (IVA) applies to definitive imports of goods. The general rate is 21%, but the law applies half the general rate to goods in annexed lists of Mercosur tariff positions, so the rate for a given machine depends on its tariff classification. Import duties also depend on classification and origin; confirm both with a customs broker (despachante de aduana) before shipping.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
