Bitcoin Miners for Chile

Choosing and importing Bitcoin mining hardware for Chile: which miners suit the 220/380 V, 50 Hz supply, what desert, Mediterranean and southern climates mean for cooling, and how imports are cleared and taxed.

Voltage and electrical supply in Chile

Chile's supply is 220/380 V at 50 Hz: 220 V between line and neutral, 380 V between lines. Type L is the national socket standard, rated at most 10–16 A; Europlugs (Type C) fit it, and Schuko (Type F, 16 A) sockets are often used for high-power appliances.

None of these is enough for a large air-cooled miner. At 3–3.6 kW it draws about 13.5–16.5 A at 220 V, which is beyond a 10 A socket and at or above the 16 A limit of the larger ones, so each machine needs a dedicated circuit with an industrial socket or a hard-wired connection rated for the load. Air-cooled miners with 200–240 V or 220–277 V power supplies run directly on the 220 V single-phase supply, and a three-phase service can feed many of them spread evenly across the phases. Hydro-cooled miners specified for 380–415 V three-phase match the 380 V line-to-line supply, at the bottom of their range, so check each model's tolerance.

Confirm the supply and the capacity of the connection with the distributor, and have a licensed electrician design the installation.

Cooling for the Chilean climate

Chile stretches across 38 degrees of latitude, and the Köppen system finds at least seven major climate subtypes there: desert (BWh, BWk) in the Atacama of the far north, Mediterranean in central Chile, oceanic in the south, and alpine and continental climates in the Andes. In Santiago, average monthly temperatures are about 19.5 °C in January and February and 7.5 °C in June and July.

Central Chile's mild averages suit air cooling for much of the year, though summer afternoons need checking against each miner's maximum intake temperature. Where intake air is dusty, as it can be at desert sites, filter it. High or southern sites can see winter air fall below manufacturers' minimum operating temperatures, which calls for recirculating some exhaust air to temper the intake and keeping snow and moisture out of the airflow.

Bitcoin mining in Chile

FinteChile's May 2025 report, as described by the trade outlet Reporte Minero, put Chile's installed capacity for digital mining at about 10 MW, with a moderate scenario of 30–40 MW by 2030 and an optimistic one of up to 100 MW. It argued that renewables, already above 60% of gross generation on the national grid, offer daytime solar surpluses and run-of-river hydro in the south, and described three models: on-grid mining buying power as a free customer, off-grid solar with storage, and hybrids using off-grid solar by day and grid power at night. Its example is a 10 MW solar plant in Copiapó supplying 5,000 ASIC miners.

Rules for mining in Chile

Law 21.521, the Fintec Law, promulgated on 22 December 2022 and published on 4 January 2023, defines crypto assets as virtual financial assets and places crowdfunding platforms, alternative trading systems, credit and investment advice, custody of financial instruments, and order routing and intermediation under the supervision of the Financial Market Commission (CMF). Its text does not mention mining.

In May 2025 the industry association FinteChile published a report recommending specific regulation to consolidate a digital-mining industry in Chile; it is a proposal, not a rule.

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Shipping to Chile

Standard shipping to Chile is free on every order. If you need it faster, choose express shipping at checkout and we quote it before payment is requested.

Importing into Chile

Goods are cleared by the Servicio Nacional de Aduanas. Imports pay value added tax (IVA) at 19%, collected by customs together with any duty and calculated on the CIF value plus the ad valorem duty. Duty depends on the classification and origin of the goods, so confirm both before shipping.

Commercial shipments invoiced at up to USD 1,000 can be cleared by the importer in a simplified procedure; above USD 1,000 FOB the importer must engage a customs agent (agente de aduanas). Customs lists the goods that need a prior permit, certification or approval from another state body; check with the customs agent whether any applies to the specific model.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
