What the series covers
The Avalon Mini 3 is part of Canaan's Avalon Home series of consumer mining devices, which Canaan launched in 2024 and commercialised in 2025. Canaan rates the Mini 3 at 37.5 TH/s and describes it as a smart-home, app-controlled, 800-watt space heater that mines bitcoin. In its annual report Canaan calls it a quiet home heater with integrated mining capabilities.
How it is meant to be used
Canaan presents the Mini 3 as a dual-purpose device: it mines Bitcoin and warms living spaces at the same time, so the heat produced by the mining chips is used to heat the room. Control is through an app, and Canaan describes the design as quiet.
Announcement
Canaan launched the Avalon Mini 3 together with the Avalon Nano 3S at CES in Las Vegas, in a release dated 7 January 2025.
