What the generation covers

Canaan's annual report gives the A14 series a 2023 release year, a computing power of 150 TH/s and a power efficiency of 21.5 J/TH. It says the series mainly includes the A1446 and A1466. Canaan's releases describe A1466 machines with an average hash rate of 150 TH/s, and an option for further A1466 units at 140–150 TH/s.

Place in Canaan's line

The A14 sits between the A13 series of 2022 (110–130 TH/s, 25.0–30.0 J/TH) and the A15 series of 2024. Against the A13's range, the A14's 21.5 J/TH is about 14% to 28% less energy per terahash. Canaan presented the A15 series as building on the A14.

Deployments

Canaan reported 6,000 A14 series machines installed at the Panther Creek facility in Pennsylvania, each with an average hash rate of 150 TH/s.

Choosing within the Avalon A14 generation

Models in one generation share a chip platform but differ in cooling type, hashrate and efficiency. Start with the cooling type your site supports, then compare efficiency and power draw between the versions listed above. Use the compare checkboxes to put two to four models side by side.
