Bitcoin Miners for Bahrain

Choosing and importing ASIC miners for Bahrain: what the low-voltage supply and Type G sockets mean for miners, extra load from EWA, cooling in hot, humid and dusty summers, customs clearance and VAT.

Voltage and electrical supply in Bahrain

Bahrain's supply is listed as 230/400 V at 50 Hz, with Type G sockets. The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), which owns and operates the transmission system, describes its low-voltage connections as 415 V and its high-voltage connections as 11 kV. Check the measured voltage at your connection, because a supply at the upper end can exceed the maximum input of some miners.

A Type G socket is rated 13 A, about 3 kW at 230 V. A large air-cooled miner drawing 3.3–3.6 kW needs roughly 14–16 A, so it needs a dedicated circuit with a higher-rated industrial socket or hard wiring, not a 13 A outlet.

Air-cooled miners with a 200–240 V or 220–277 V input connect line-to-neutral on single-phase supply. Hydro-cooled models specified for 380–415 V three-phase match the 400–415 V supply line-to-line.

To add load, EWA runs an Additional Electricity Load Service for premises that need more capacity. The application needs a confirmation certificate for the supply power load, a building permit and, for commercial customers, the commercial registration. Fees depend on the load and technical considerations. Plan the connection with EWA and a licensed electrician.

Cooling for the Bahraini climate

Bahrain's summers are very hot and humid. In June 2023 the Meteorological Directorate recorded a mean temperature of 35.0 °C and a mean daily maximum of 39.0 °C. The highest reading was 45.8 °C at Bahrain International Airport and 48.1 °C at Bahrain International Circuit, and relative humidity reached 83%. The shallow surrounding seas push humidity very high, especially at night, and northwesterly shamal winds bring dust storms in June and July.

Summer air is above the maximum intake temperature of air-cooled miners, and the humidity limits evaporative cooling. Air-cooled sites need conditioned intake air and dust filtration. Hydro and immersion systems with dry coolers sized for the hottest design day suit Bahrain's conditions better and keep the electronics sealed from dust.

How purchasing works

Orders are handled the same way for every destination and scale with quantity:

  • 1–4 units: online checkout on products that show a price and a confirmed availability status.
  • 5–19 units: checkout or a volume quote.
  • 20 units and above: a wholesale quotation covering unit price, batch, freight and delivery terms.
  • 100 units and above, or a full site: handled by mining sales as a procurement project.

Where a product shows "Availability on request" or "Available", stock is not held in a warehouse; lead time is confirmed on your quotation.

Importing into Bahrain

Goods are cleared by Bahrain Customs (Customs Affairs, Ministry of Interior). Importers or their local agents must complete a customs bill of entry before importing, and a registered, licensed clearing agent is recommended. The invoice must state the correct value and origin of the goods.

According to the National Bureau for Revenue (NBR), the standard VAT rate has been 10% since 1 January 2022, and Customs Affairs collects VAT on imported goods at the time of import. The Bahrain Standards and Metrology Directorate inspects regulated products at Khalifa Bin Salman Port before they enter, and its list includes electric appliances. Bahrain belongs to the GCC customs union, and customs duty depends on the tariff classification and origin of the goods.

Infrastructure for larger deployments

Beyond a few machines, the miners are one line of the bill of materials. Transformers, switchgear, PDUs, racking, cooling and containers are specified around the miner model and the site's supply voltage, and can be quoted as one procurement scope.
